Challenges
The utility’s legacy revenue meters were identified for replacement due to age and recurring failure. Moreover, the existing equipment was discontinued and product support was no longer being offered by the manufacturer. With little documentation of existing programing and no manufacturer support, AES replicated the facility’s unique analog metering summation and subtraction configuration with modern digital solutions. The conduit and cable-tray layout created difficult routing restrictions and presented the need of new communication cable runs. Finally, to meet integration requirements for the facility’s aged data monitoring system, integration with POTs lines was deemed necessary.
